Vehicle fuels can present numerous health and environmental concerns such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, toxic air contaminants, damage to ecosystems, and human health problems. Propane, with its low carbon content, is a cleaner, greener alternative to gasoline and diesel. When released from pressurized containment, it disperses into the atmosphere and will not contaminate soil or water, contains no lead, and is non-toxic, even if accidentally inhaled. Dedicated propane vehicles emit up to 27% fewer GHGs than gasoline vehicles, even when compared to the latest technology3, and tailpipe emissions contain lower amounts of harmful toxins and chemicals than both gasoline and diesel, with extremely low levels of sulphur, a big contributor to acid rain (sulphur is produced when fossil fuels are burned).
